Poison Gas was a weapon used by the Germans in World War One. It was thrown into trenches in shells and then released a poisonous gas. The gas was not always meant to kill though. Sometimes the gas was used to irritate/annoy the enemy so they couldn't man their positions. For example the Germans could throw a poisonous gas into an opposing trench that would make the enemies continuously sneeze.
Poison Gas was one of the most feared weapons in the war. Fritz Haber was a German chemist who was said to have helped invent poison gas to be used in the war. It was a deadly weapon because it could come at any time and then the soldiers would have to repeatedly put on crude gas masks. Even dogs had to wear the gas masks so they weren't affected by the gas. The weapon was mainly used by the Germans when they threw it into opposing trenches.
IMPACT AND CONSEQUENCES OF POISON GAS
The impact of poison gas in the war was that it was one of the most feared weapons by opponents. An attack could happen at any time and it was very dangerous. And the process of putting on the mask was very annoying and you had to accomplish it quickly. Poison gas could effect anyone that gets near it whether it's soldiers or civilians. Opposing military leaders really had no control over decisions regarding poison gas because it could come at anytime and effect all of the soldiers . There were really no negatives with using poison gas. It could greatly affect opponents soldiers in the trenches.
